What makes the Master Edition different from the standard DMP-A6?

The Master Edition replaces the standard model's OPA1642 op-amps with the OPA1612. This gives measurably lower distortion (THD+N of -121 dB instead of -120 dB on XLR) and slightly better dynamic range on the RCA output (125 dB instead of 124 dB). Same DAC chips, same connections, same size.

Is the Master Edition worth the price difference?

If your amplifier and speakers can resolve the difference, the Master Edition's OPA1612 stage gives slightly lower distortion on both outputs. For systems built around the DMP-A6 as the main source feeding a quality amplifier, the upgrade is worthwhile.

Can I use it as a preamp?

Yes. The balanced XLR and RCA outputs include volume control, so you can connect it directly to a power amplifier such as the Eversolo AMP-F2 for a complete two-box system without a separate preamp.

Is it available in silver?
