What do I need to connect to the C8C?

A source with volume control, such as a streamer, over XLR, RCA or a digital input. Amplifiers and DSP are built in. I can suggest an Eversolo, Matrix or Wattson streamer to match.

C8C or Dutch & Dutch 8c?

Both are active cardioid designs. The 8c is a complete system with streaming, an app and RoomMatching built in. The C8C needs a source and is set up from a Windows tool. If you want everything in one box, choose the 8c; if you already have a streamer you like, the C8C is worth hearing.

Can I add the BX8C later?

Yes. The BX8C sits under the C8C and connects in series, extending the bass to 28 Hz with more headroom.

Active 3-way cardioid speaker with bass down to 30 Hz.

The C8C is AsciLab's active cardioid speaker: a waveguided ceramic tweeter between two 6" ceramic mid-woofers, with two 8" woofers on the sides. Hypex amplification and DSP are built in, with analog and digital inputs. Add a streamer with volume control and the system is complete.

What it solves

Engineered to deliver accurate sound in real rooms, not just anechoic chambers.

Cardioid in both planes

Less sound radiates to the sides and back, so the room adds fewer reflections. The symmetrical vertical layout also reduces the bounce from a desk or the floor.

Opposed side woofers

Two 8" woofers sit on opposite sides of the cabinet. Their reaction forces cancel, which greatly reduces cabinet vibration, and they take the bass down to 30 Hz.

Inputs and phase modes

XLR, RCA, AES/EBU, coaxial and optical inputs; the XLR, AES/EBU and coaxial inputs also have a pass-through output. Choose minimum phase for low latency or linear phase for timing accuracy, and fine-tune with a 9-band EQ over USB.

Like the Dutch & Dutch 8c, the C8C controls its bass directivity, so it is less affected by the wall behind it than a conventional speaker. Unlike the 8c, it has no built-in streaming or room-matching app: you add the source, and the EQ is set from a Windows tool over USB.
